Veterinarians Love Doxies

There's So Much Belly To Rub.

If you can't resist rubbing a dog's warm, sparsely coated belly, you're going to love a Dachshund. That extra long torso means you have miles of belly to rub. This cuddly little canine will happily snuggle into your arms and flip over so you can reach their prime rubbing spots. Her Sacramento veterinarian will love your pup

Doxies' loyalty to their owners is one of the most lovable things about the breed, so it makes sense that they'd want to show you just how much they love you by covering you in kisses! Historically, dachshunds also use licking as a sign of submission to their pack leader.

Dachshunds belong to the hound category, and were actually bred to hunt badgers, one of the fiercest small predators out there. Dachshunds are incredibly loyal and make very good watchdogs. Their size and hunter's instinct make them the perfect balance between lap dog, and "real" dog!

Why do dachshunds go under a blanket? Dachshunds burrow because it's in their nature. They feel happy tunnelling into small, dark spaces because they were bred to flush badgers out of their setts. They also like to feel warm, cosy and protected when they sleep.

Dachshunds are always good sports when it comes to donning the hot dog costume that’s become ubiquitous with the breed. Also, when socialized properly, they’re great with kids, and they love to play ball (don’t expect them to always return it to you, though—they have a mind of their own). Sometimes that silly, loyal personality can even steal the spotlight—their photobombing skills are unparalleled.

Dachshunds are simply overwhelmingly cute, adorable, and lovely. There’s a reason why Dachshunds are among the most popular dog breeds in human history.
